Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) Mobile App

Traveling to the USA is now easier and quicker with the introduction of the ESTA Mobile App. The app enables eligible travelers who plan on entering the USA under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) to now submit their ESTA request through the app on their smartphones, mobile devices or tablets.

What are ESTA and VWP?

The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is the automated system that determines the eligibility of visitors traveling to the USA and whether such travel poses any security risk. Visitors can apply for ESTA through the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s website and now on their phone or tablet through the ESTA Mobile App.

The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables eligible citizens from 40 countries to travel to the USA for tourism or business for up to 90 days without first obtaining a visa.

Who is eligible to apply through the ESTA Mobile App?

Below are the requirements needed to apply through the ESTA Mobile App:

• You are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country

• You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa

• Your travel is for 90 days or less

• You plan to travel to the USA for business or pleasure

• You want to apply for a new authorization for one person or a group of applications for two or more persons

• You have a valid passport from a VWP approved country

What is on the ESTA Mobile App?

After downloading the ESTA Mobile App, visitors will be able to:

• Launch an ESTA application

• Scan an image of their passport

• Upload a live video selfie to confirm their identity

• Answer eligibility questions

• Review and submit their application

• Make changes or updates to their application or profile

• Receive notifications and application status updates
