From the rhythm of the Mississippi River to the beats of Beale Street, Memphis is where many forms of music were born and are still being recorded today, evolving the original Memphis sound.

The city is renowned for its links to Elvis Presley. The King’s Graceland home is preserved in his honour, and you can also trace his story at Sun Studio, where he recorded.

The Memphis music scene began in the mid-19th century, when African-American musicians travelling the Mississippi River stopped to perform. Today, Beale Street and its many clubs, is a nationally recognised landmark.

New York, the largest city in the USA, is an architectural marvel with plenty of historic monuments, magnificent buildings and countless dazzling skyscrapers. The city is home to numerous museums, parks, trendy neighbourhoods and shopping streets.

It is true that Hip Hop Music originated in the South Bronx in the late 1970s. Using the language of “the street,” rap is rich in imagery, creativity and metaphor, with themes of social justice.

Create Your Own Playlists Using Spotify!

In partnership with streaming service Spotify, Brand USA has launched a new marketing campaign called 'Hear the Music, Experience the USA.'

It aims to promote five American cities through their distinct music genres with five varied renditions of the Bobby Freeman tune, 'Do You Wanna Dance?'

The new renditions of the song include hip hop in Atlanta by Cam James, EDM by Bass Physics in Denver, a blues version by Nathan Quick in Houston, rock 'n' roll from Portland, Oregon by the Reptaliens and a soul version by Calma Carmona from San Juan, Puerto Rico.
